So i'm really obsessed with this orange juice that they like to pretend is minute maid. it's basically just really sweet thin juice with just a little bit of pulp. It's delicious but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be sick of it in about 3 days. I wrote in my journal for a little bit but what else will I spend my time doing? Beijing has been pretty nice so far. The weather isn't too hot, the mornings are usually really cool, as are the nights. It has rained a few times, but mostly drizzle. The only unfortunate time was when about 24 of us went to eat at some place about a 10 minute walk away and had to walk in the pouring rain to go back to Lanhui (the apartment I'm staying at).

Anyways, the apartment is really just.. okay. It's equivalent if not at the same level as a Best Western in the US, but it's manageable, as I didn't really expect much coming to China anyways. The beds are rock freaking hard, but it's okay. I can sleep, and that's all that matters I guess.

I'm sitting in the second floor internet cafe right now which is the only place I can get internet but then thats because I haven't ordered internet for my room yet. The days are starting to get busy, but I guess since we're gonna have 8-12 class everyday, I guess I have a lot of time to play during the school year.

Yesterday George and a few other people went to Dongwuyuan, which literally translated is the zoo, but across the street is a HUGE building of like 5 floors of just 7x7 insets selling bags, clothing, watches, sunglasses, and random stuff. It was pretty dizzying, especially when we got to the shoe section where I got a headache smelling all the fake leather. It was fun though. I got some bargained-down shelves to put in my closet in my apartment here.

I keep getting really excited about being in china and want to go to all the touristy areas and the shopping areas, but I don't think I realize that I have 6 months here. A lot of the other students studying abroad with EAP are Summer ILP students only. I've only met a few of the maybe 20 fall students. Personally, I think fall semester will be a lot funner because groups will be tighter and there will be some kind of consistency for a few months, instead of this short 6 week summer session where everyone is really trying to make the most of every minute and tiring themselves out, instead of sitting back and relaxing and taking in everything Beijing and China have to offer. I'm really excited to get out of Beijing as well, to see Yunnan and Hainan and Hebei and all these wonderful pretty places.

I'll post some pictures later once I get the chance. :)

III Tammy is camera happy now
     June 05, 2008 // 9:09 PM

I finally got my camera. The one I posted about on July 12 of last year. Lmfao.. It took me a whole year to finally get it. And in that span of a year, it's price was reduced about $100 and now about every person I know has it. Great. Canon PowerShot SD 1000. Whatever, you have no idea how much this dang camera means to me. I don't care if it's old news. IT'S MY new toyyyy! KEKE. Okay. anyways. The first picture I took was of my travel journal that I made yesterday. It took me a good two hours. But whatever. I laaaav it.. and uh. I just noticed that a pixel is broken. Damnit!! I don't want to send it back to the manufacturer... I guess it doesn't really effect my pictures at all but my OCD self probably won't be able to handle it. Anyways. YAYAY. My travel journal! Cute? No? Well I'm planning to take it around me everywhere so I can jot down random things on my big adventure. And plus, I'm putting everyone's addresses in it so that I can have those ready for when I want to send postcards and letters and emails. YAY! I have 20 days ya'll. Less than three weeks. I'm so excited for it. Oh babyyyy.

I need to eat healthier. Reading Jason Mraz's most recent blog about eating greens and being uber health conscious makes me feel guilty. Especially as I was digging for lunch today and ended up eating some ramen. Tsk tsk Tammy.

The day in which I will depart this happy little place called home is fast approaching. Mm. 22 days? I'm deathly scared and extremely excited all at the same time. I know I'll have fun, but you know, I also know that I'm going to be shitting in my pants because everything will be so new and so difficult, and I'll miss home, my family, and my friends so much. I know there will be some point where I will want to come back, and count the days until I can. But I really need to suck it up because it's about time I do something different in my life. I'm letting myself feel too comfortable. Is that even possible? Too comfortable?

Anyways. For the last few nights, I've gone to bed at 2am and have woken up no earlier than 12:30. Today I stretched it to 1:30. Unbelievable. But it's only because I'm so damn bored at home cause no one is here, so there's no use waking up earlier and realizing earlier that I am bored as hell at home. Plus, save me the electricity from turning on my lappy. Whatever, I'm going to have a wonderful little summer.. for the next 22 days. I'm planning on spending this coming weekend in Berkeley after the Kanye concert. Dragonboat Festival this weekend and a pleasant visit to Zhang Laoshi on Monday. And by that time, people will begin to come home from the UCs! Yay! Hurry up slowpokes. Stop studying. Geez.

For all of you that might want to say bye bye to me before I fall off the face of the Earth (or, the Bay Area at least), then let's hang out! Before this:
